The Star Bundle
Terms and Conditions

1. Subscription

The Star Bundle is a subscription package consisting of The Star newspaper, The Star ePaper and eflavours. The Star ePaper is a digital replica of The Star newspaper and eflavours is a digital replica of Flavours magazine. The subscription entitles you to vouchers which you must use to redeem The Star newspaper.

You will be provided with one user account to access both The Star ePaper and eflavours.

The subscription is not transferable to any third party and the vouchers for The Star newspaper must be used concurrently with The Star ePaper and eflavours by the same subscriber.

2. Availability

The Star Bundle is available at the prevailing prices whereby the delivery address for The Star newspaper must be a Malaysian address.

We reserve the absolute right to: -

2.1. Change our prices and/or withdraw the subscription package at any time, without the need to inform you prior to such a change and/or withdrawal, as the case may be.
2.2. Upgrade or remove any of the features of The Star ePaper and/or eflavours in the bundle subscription. No refund or discount will be given to you should you decide not to take up any of the upgraded features or upon the removal of any of the existing features of The Star ePaper and eflavours.
2.3. Withdraw any section(s)/title(s)/page(s) of The Star newspaper, The Star ePaper and/or eflavors in the bundle subscription at any time as we deem fit without prior notification. No refund or discount will be available in the event of such withdrawal.

Subscription that has been paid in full shall not be affected by the change unless due to our inability to fulfil our subscription offer or under exceptional conditions not within our reasonable control. In these cases, the provision under section 7 shall apply.

3. Payment and Processing

You can subscribe The Star Bundle from The Star Online Bookstore or, simply fill up a subscription form which is available at our main and regional offices. To facilitate the subscription, you undertake to provide complete and accurate information required by us.For subscription through The Star Online Bookstore, you can pay by credit card, e-banking or e-wallet. For subscription using the form, you can pay by cash, credit card or cheque made payable to STAR PUBLICATIONS (MALAYSIA) BERHAD. Your payment shall be construed as an offer to purchase The Star Bundle. The sale of the subscription is deemed completed and accepted once your subscription together with payment is successfully processed. Upon successful processing of your subscription, we will notify you by letter which will specify your subscription period (i.e. commencement date and expiry date). 4. Voucher

Subject to Paragraph 5 hereof, we will assign our appointed newspaper vendor to deliver The Star newspaper to you. We will send the monthly voucher(s) to you within three (3) weeks from the commencement date of your newspaper delivery. The vouchers shall be invalid upon the expiration of the validity period specified in your voucher(s). This voucher system is only applicable to subscribers in Peninsular Malaysia.

Request for a new set of voucher(s) due to lost and/or misplaced voucher(s) must be submitted to us in writing stating your reason(s) for your request. An administrative fee of RM20.00 will be charged for such voucher(s) replacement. We will send the replacement voucher(s) to you once the payment is received or your cheque is cleared, as the case maybe.

5. Delivery

5.1. The Star newspaper

5.1.1. Please allow 10 working days for us to process your subscription.
5.1.2. Delivery of the newspaper to new subscribers shall commence from the first day of the month, depending on the date when your form is received by The Star. For example, if your subscription form is received before/on 15 June, you will receive The Star newspaper from 1 July; if your subscription form is received after 15 June, you will receive The Star newspaper from 1 August.
5.1.3. It shall be deemed that the newspapers have been duly delivered to you if there is no report of any losses within two (2) working days from commencement date of delivery.
  You shall pay a monthly delivery fee to your appointed vendor:
  (A) RM2 to RM10 per month in Peninsular Malaysia; and
  (B) RM5 to RM15 per month in Sarawak and Sabah.
5.1.4. Request for a change of delivery address shall be subjected to the approval of The Star. You shall submit your request in writing stating your reason(s) for the change of address. Once your request is accepted, we will inform you in writing and the delivery of the newspaper to the new address will take effect from the 1st day of the following month.
5.1.5. In relation to the subscription in bulk by a corporate subscriber, we will only deliver The Star newspaper to one of the corporate addresses provided in the subscription form.

5.2. The Star ePaper and eflavours

The Star ePaper and eflavour is operated by NewspaperDirect, Inc. You can start accessing ePaper and eflavours once your ePaper account has been successfully set up and you will receive the ePaper password within 3 working days after we have completed processing your subscription and payment.

6. Renewal

The Star Bundle

6.1. Promotion

6.1.1. You may take up the following Promotion prior to the end of your current The Star Bundle subscription: -

(i) One (1) year of The Star newspaper, ePaper (361 issues) and eflavours (12 issues) at Ringgit Malaysia Two Hundred Sixty (RM260.00) only.

(ii) Two (2) years of The Star newspaper, ePaper (722 issues) and eflavours (24 issues) at Ringgit Malaysia Five Hundred Twenty (RM520.00) only. You will be entitled to a voucher worth Ringgit Malaysia Fifty (RM50.00) only ("Star Voucher") if you renew your subscription for two (2) years under this Promotion.

6.1.2. The above Promotion is only applicable to current The Star Bundle subscribers with a minimum remaining subscription period of not exceeding six (6) months from the date of this Promotion. Should we receive your renewal application after your current subscription expires, the above Promotion will not be applicable.

6.2. Renewal Payment and Processing

6.2.1. You are required to submit the renewal form which is enclosed in your reminder letter or alternatively, you may renew your subscription through The Star Online Bookstore at (http://bookstore.thestar.com.my)
6.2.2. Refer to the provisions under Section 3 of the Terms and Conditions dated 5 Nov 2012 which is available at ("Standard T&C") for payment and processing procedures.

6.3. Renewal Delivery

6.3.1. Please allow seven (7) working days to process your renewal application for the arrangement of delivery of The Star newspaper

For example, if your subscription expires on 30th June 2013, and your renewal application is received by us before/on 20th June 2013, your subscription will continue from 1st July 2013 and The Star newspaper will be delivered to you from 1st July 2013 onwards. If your renewal application be received after 20th June 2013, your subscription will only commence from 1st August 2013 and we will only deliver The Star newspaper to you from 1st August 2013 onwards.

However, you may still enjoy reading our news from ePaper as your ePaper account will be activated within two (2) working days from the date of receipt of your renewal application.

6.4. Star Voucher

6.4.1. Star Voucher is a cash voucher and you may use it to: -
  (i) advertise in Celebrations section (not applicable for company's greetings); or
(ii) insert StarSearch (pull out ONLY) ; or,
(iii) subscribe for new Bundle or magazine subscription; or
(iv) renew your Bundle or magazine subscription; or
(iv) purchase books from our online bookstore.

The use of Star Voucher to advertise in our Celebrations and/or StarSearch sections shall subject to the casual rates published in the standard rate card, and all other promotional rates and discount are not applicable.

6.4.2. Original Star Voucher must be presented at our HQ or Regional bureaus. We do not entertain any purchase or order via online, agents or tele ads.
6.4.3. Star Voucher is non-exchangeable for cash.
6.4.4. Star Voucher is transferable to friends or families.
6.4.5. Star Voucher can be accumulated.
6.4.6. Star Voucher is not valid after the expiry date.
6.4.7. No cash refund will be given if your purchase fall short of the amount indicated in the Star Voucher.
6.4.8. Star Voucher is not replaceable and any complains related to misplace, lost or damaged voucher will not be entertained.

We reserve the absolute right to revise our pricing and/or to withdraw the renewal packages promotion at any time, without the need to inform you prior to such a change and/or withdrawal, as the case may be.

This terms and conditions contained herein for the Promotion and the Standard T&C are intended to be correlative and complementary. In the event of a conflict between any provisions of the Standard T&C and any provisions hereof, the former shall prevail.

Note to subscribers: The above additional terms and conditions address the need for you to renew the whole package effectively in order to avoid disruption of The Star Bundle services.

The Star Corporate Bundle

6.5. Promotion

6.5.1. You may take up the following Promotion prior to the end of your current The Star Corporate Bundle subscription: -

(i) One (1) year of The Star newspaper (257 issues, Mon - Fri), ePaper (361 issues) and eflavours (12 issues) at Ringgit Malaysia Two Hundred Twenty (RM220.00) only.

(ii) One (1) year of The Star newspaper (361 issues, Mon-Sun), ePaper (361 issues) and eflavours (12 issues) at Ringgit Malaysia Two Hundred Sixty (RM260.00) only.

6.5.2. The above Promotion is applicable to current The Star Corporate Bundle subscribers with a minimum remaining subscription period of not exceeding six (6) months from the date of this Promotion. Should we receive your renewal application after your current subscription expires, the above Promotion will not be applicable.

6.6. Renewal Payment and Processing

6.6.1. You are required to submit the renewal form, which is enclosed in your reminder letter, or walk in to our corporate office to submit your subscription form.
6.6.2. Refer to the provisions under Section 3 of the Terms and Conditions dated 5 Nov 2012 which is available at ("Standard T&C") for payment and processing procedures.

6.7. Renewal Delivery

6.7.1. Please allow five (7) working days to process your renewal application for the arrangementof delivery of The Star newspaper

For example, if your subscription expires on 30th June 2013, and your renewal application is received by us before/on 20th June 2013, your subscription will continue from 1st July 2013 and The Star newspaper will be delivered to you from 1st July 2013 onwards. If your renewal application be received after 20th June 2013, your subscription will only commence from 1st August 2013 and we will only deliver The Star newspaper to you from 1st August 2013 onwards.

However, you may still enjoy reading our news from ePaper as your ePaper account will be activated within two (3) working days from the date of receipt of your renewal application.

7. Cancellation and Refund

7.1. Cancellation

7.1.1. Subscription fee paid is for the full duration of your subscription. No cancellation or early termination of The Star Bundle subscription is allowed.

7.2. Refund

7.2.1. Refund is strictly prohibited.

7.2.2. Refund may be allowed at our sole discretion: -

7.2.2.1. In the event that we are unable to appoint a newspaper vendor to fulfil your subscription;or

7.2.2.2. In exceptional circumstances, of which we will review on a case by case basis;or

7.2.2.3. In the event of refund where you have received vouchers from us, you must return the unexpired vouchers to us in exchange for the refund and we will impose RM20 administrative charge for all refund cases. You are responsible for the delivery and postal charges to the address stated in Section 9. Proof of postage shall not constitute proof of receipt by us.

8. Responsibility and Liability

You agree that we are not responsible for any failure by us to perform our obligation to you in relation to your subscription where such failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control and that we shall not be liable for any loss suffered by you directly or indirectly, in relation to your subscription.

Your use of The Star ePaper and eflavours shall also be governed by NewspaperDirect's Terms of Use Agreement and Service Privacy Policy. In the event of any inconsistencies between NewspaperDirect's Term of Use Policy and/or Service Privacy Policy with the Terms and Conditions contained herein, the terms as contained in this Terms and Conditions shall prevail. 9. Use and Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information and Anonymous Information

By agreeing to the terms and conditions contained herein, you hereby allow The Star media group to collect your Personal Information to be regulated and managed by The Star media group. You also hereby agree to receive the latest information about products, news and events updates, rewards and promotions, special privileges and initiatives from The Star media group, its partners and advertisers.
